What is DIA?

DIA is a ‘Disability Identification and Awareness’ campaign conducted by Kikstart Pan-India, online, offline, or hybrid.

What is the aim of DIA?

We aim to reach small towns, cities, and villages in Pan-India and create a sensitisation towards seeking rehabilitation and understanding inclusivity.

How will it help the community?

Disability identification promotes inclusivity, challenges stereotypes, and supports self-advocacy. By reducing stigma, fostering accessibility, and encouraging therapy, we empower individuals and cultivate a supportive, understanding community.

How is it done?

Disability identification and awareness (DIA) are conducted collaboratively with organisations and NGOs, pooling resources and expertise to promote inclusivity, education, and community support.

Keval has been taking Occupational therapy lessons with Anjana Iyer at Kikstart since October 2021. Our experience so far has been well. We have seen tremendous improvement in a lot of areas for Keval. He has started gaining self-confidence and has become a bit more self-reliant. He has started going to work more frequently, something that he was struggling with before starting the therapy sessions.

AK usually used to describe any picture by just naming the things into it, but now she tries describing the entire picture in sentences and when probed further, also tries to state the reactions/reasoning to what is happening in the picture. Also, she has become more vocal about her thoughts in her mind. Online sessions help them think and also help us know how to work with them in a more organised way.
